History of Alden Resources
Alden Resources was formed in 2007 from a group of small companies mining and processing coal in southern Kentucky. These companies were primarily mining coal from the Blue Gem seam which has unique properties making it suitable for silicon production. Blue Gem coal has been used as a silicon reductant since the 1980’s as a less costly alternative to charcoal.
